Recent
studies have shown that soy-derived
phytoestrogens - especially
Genistein - are able to
down-regulate androgen receptor (AR) expression
in the prostate by about 40 % without having
an effect of circulating testosterone or
estrogen levels. The exact mechanism of the
AR inhibiting effect of Genistein or its
metabolites is still unknown.
Possible tyrosine kinase inhibition or binding
to the estrogen receptor are also discussed
as suppression
of angiogenesis.It is concluded that
some
phytoestrogens act as estrogen mimics
and protect men from benign prostatic hyperplasia
and prostate cancer .
Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) exerts its function
by activation of the androgen receptor,
which is a member of the family of nuclear
receptors. Upon binding to androgen, the
androgen receptor (AR) can translocate into
the nucleus and bind to androgen response
element(s) to modulate its target genes.
Therapy
of prostate cancer or androgenetic alopecia
is currently based on blockade of androgen
receptor function by androgen depletion,by
antagonists (antiandrogens) or by inhibiting
5-AR. Obviously it would be much more effective
to locally reduce the AR expression than
to block existing AR. The strongest easily
available topical AR blocker is Spironolactone
- unfortunately spiro would have to be applied
each 3-4 hours due to its short half-life
term. Liposomal spiro with it´s depot
mechanism can improve the effects of spiro.
Now
there are three newly discovered AR inhibitors
- Genistein ,Quercitin
and
Vitamin E alpha-tocopheryl succinate.
We
have encapsulated Genistein and Vitamin
E succinate in nanosome liposomes
for topical use.Our Genistein is 97 % pure,imported
directly from China and approved for medical
use.We do not use OTC Genistein
capsules with low amounts of genistein and
lots of fillers and starch for our topical
product but we highly recommend to use Genistein
caps.( at least 20 mg a day ) in addition.
Genistein has the tendency to accumulate
in the body which supports the topical effect
of Genistil.
Next
ingredient is a brand new hair growth stimulant
called Rooibos.
Rooibos is derived from the redbush plant
- a hardy shrub indigenous to the North
Western Cape of South Africa.Clinically
Rooibos is often prescribed for nervous
tension, allergies, stomach and digestive
problems.The main ingredients of Rooibos
are:
•
Phenolic carboxylic acids : 4-hydroxybenzoic
acid, 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid,
4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoic acid, 4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxybenzoic
acid, 4-
coumaric acid, caffeic acid, ferulic acid
• Tannins : approx. 3%; (+) –
catechin, procyanidin B-3, bis-fisetinidol-catechin
• Flavone glycosides : orientin, iso-orientin,
vitexin, iso-vitexin (antioxidant properties)
• Dihydrochalcone glycosides : aspalathin*
nothofagin (strong antioxidants)
• Flavones, Flavonols & C-O Glycosides
: luteolin, luteolin-7-0-glucoside, quercetin,
isoquercetin & rutin
• Flavonone glycosides : dihydro-orientin,
dihydro-iso-orientin
• Alpha hydroxy acids : phenylpyruvic
acid glucoside
• Minerals : iron, potassium, calcium,
copper, zinc, manganese, sodium
• Miscellaneous : Vitamin C, pinitol
(non-phenolic)
Rooibos
has very potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant
properties.Quercetin is the major in vitro
active component of rooibos.
Studies
were initiated by Cosmetochem International
Ltd. at an independent laboratory
(Dermascan, France) to study the effect
of the use of Rooibos in a hair lotion on
a group of healthy persons who were suffering
from the problem of hair loss.
A
90 day trial was conducted comparing a hair
lotion containing 10% Rooibos with a placebo
lotion. 5 ml of the alcoholic solutions
were applied daily. MPE Rooibos is a concentrated
extract of Rooibos produced by a novel dual
phase extraction process which ensures the
production of an extract with the widest
spectrum of plant
actives i.e. polar, semi-polar and non-polar.
The efficacy of the products was evaluated
using a videotrichogramme, which determines:
• hair density ( total number of hairs)
• number and proportion of telogen
hairs (hairs where growth has ceased)
• number and proportion of anagen
hairs (hairs which are still growing)
• hair growth speed of anagen hairs
After 90 days results showed :
• Hair growth speed
-a significant increase of the hair growth
speed in the lotion containing
MPE Rooibos compared with the placebo
-an increase in the hair growth speed was
observed with 89% of the
volunteers
• Product efficacy – results
from a subjective evaluation questionnaire
by
the volunteers showed:
67% rated hair loss as zero or low
78% saw an improvement (low to medium)
45% saw low to medium re-growth of hair
63% of volunteers found a positive effect
on the fragrance and
smoothness of hair
67% liked the general aspect of their hair
• No undesirable reactions (irritation
or allergy) were recorded
Conclusion : These results show that most
of the volunteers had a remarkable
improvement in both the increase of the
speed of hair growth, the decrease in
hair loss and an overall improvement in
hair condition.
Third
ingredient of Genistil-R is a relatively
unknown plant extract called
Sophora Flavescens.A
recent study shows that Sophora
flavescens has outstanding hair growth promoting
and type II 5alpha-reductase activity inhibiting
effects.It is suggested
that
the effects of Sophora flavescens extract
on hair growth may be mediated through the
regulation of growth factors in dermal papilla
cells.
New
ingredient: Rosemary
extract with potent anti-inflammatory
properties
Genistil-R
combines the AR inhibiting effect of Genistein
and Vitamin E succinate with the hair growth
promoting and anti-inflammatory properties
of Rooibos ,Sophora Flavescens and Rosemary
extract. It is available as a liposomal
preparation in a 50 ml bottle and intended
for daily use. Genistil-R has a milky color
and light herbal smell. It leaves no residue.
Our trial customers over the last 8 weeks
have reported improvement of their hair
structure within 3-5 days.As in the French
study an extreme increase in hair growth
speed was observed.Genistil-R works excellent
in preventing hairloss and improving thinning
areas. We recommend a 1-2 week treatment
period with InFlamil before or together
with Genistil-R.
